Cath King, of Kingsteignton, writes:
I am totally disgusted that visitors to the new Newton Abbot Hospital will have to pay to park their cars.
There is no such arrangement at the present site in East Street and I cannot see why one is necessary at Jetty Marsh.
The NHS trust responsible has said charges are needed to stop drivers abusing the car park.
They are concerned that people would park there free of charge then go off elsewhere.
The site is hardly in the town centre though is it?
It seems to me that the only abuse here is being directed towards those who have to attend hospital.
Asking people to pay when they have much more important matters to deal with is, to my mind, both immoral and indefensible.
What's more, will the nearby B&Q store now have to charge for parking to deter hospital-goers?
