How will the shops benefit?

In this time of a recession there must be a down-to-earth approach by Teignbridge Council, so while Cllr Alan Connett is pleased to announce that car parking will be free after noon on Sundays, he should also have also stated which shops would benefit from such a temporary plan.

How many and which High Street shops are open on Sunday afternoons? Even free parking all day would be of doubtful benefit but free parking half-day on a Saturday would be a boost.

The two-month trial will probably end with the council declaring it did not really achieve its aim, and no doubt wondering why, but able to say that it at least tried.
