THE NATION’S favourite locomotive steamed through Newton Abbot earlier yesterday evening (Thursday Oct 4).

The Flying Scotsman, double-headed by LMS Stainer Black 5 44871, was en-route to an over-night stop in Plymouth before venturing west into Cornwall as part of a Steam Dreams railtour.

It’s the first time in 15 years that the iconic steam locomotive has been in Devon.

Hundreds of spectators and rail enthusiasts gathered at vantage points around Newton’s railway station to catch a glimpse of the famous loco as she hurtled through.
