An iconic Teignbridge seafood restaurant, famed for its seafood platters and shellfish, is to close its doors in a couple of weeks.

The Crab Shack on Teignmouth’s back beach will close on September 1.

The owners said the decision to close was due to ‘the challenge of seafood prices becoming extremely expensive’. In a Facebook post, the owners stated: ‘Being able to do what we do at an affordable price is, sadly, no longer an option.’

The Crab Shack’s sister venue, The Lobster Lounge, which is located on Northumberland Place just behind The Crab Shack, will remain open. A selection of Crab Shack ‘signature platters’ will be added to the menu at The Lobster Lounge.

‘By joining forces, we hope to offer you very best experience at a more accessible price,’ The Crab Shack said.
