THE iconic Teignmouth ‘letters’ have been given a spring makeover.

The sign, which is along the railway line and seen by millions of train passengers and walkers, got its annual facelift thanks to a group of volunteers on Easter Sunday.

Situated at Sprey Point alongside the main Paddington to Penzance line, the triangular prism has stood on the site for decades.

Each year, efforts are made to paint the signage following the ravages of winter weather.

Paint for the job was supplied by former mayor of Teignmouth Peter Williams.

Sonja Miller, of Alexandra Terrance, said: ‘It was a great community event, I’m very grateful for David Cox and Andrew Henderson in organising this social action.

‘It was a sunny day and everybody enjoyed themselves.’
