Chudleigh Town Council chairman Cllr Richard Keeling was thrilled to retain a seat as an Independent in Chudleigh Ward. He received 884 votes. 'I was hopeful but didn't expect to get that many votes,' he said . 'I want to help put Chudleigh on the map and will always make decisions with the town in mind.' Conservative Cllr Lorraine Evans retained her seat with 889 votes. Her son Stephen Evans, who was also a nominee, received 720.

'I'm upset Stephen didn't get a seat. I was worried about where the independent vote would go after Ray Frost stood down, but I'm pleased with the result.' Labour candidate Janette Parker received 475, Independent Douglas Laing and Liberal Democrat Michael Barnes got 500. The turn out was 48 per cent.
