A NATIONAL planning inspector has been called to intervene in a controversial application on the edge of Teignmouth.

Inox Capitol Investment Ltd wants to build up to 40 properties – including affordable housing – on nine acres of land off Higher Woodway Road.

The application prompted almost 170 letters of objection and was opposed by the town council.

It was refused by Teignbridge Council in December last year because of its potential to change the landscape of the town boundary, nearby wildlife and strain on local resources.
