COMMUNITY groups and organisations interested in crowdfunding are being invited to a workshop on Wednesday evening.

The workshop, taking place at Forde House in Newton Abbot, will give groups a chance to find out how crowdfunding can help.

Teignbridge Council will also be launching its Stronger Communities Fund, which supports projects in the area as part of Crowdfund Devon, at the event.

Crowdfund Devon has been set up to support charities, businesses, community organisations by giving them an extra cash boost.

Campaigns could receive a maximum contribution of £2,500 from the district authority if launched through Crowdfund Devon.

Cllr John Goodey, Teignbridge’s executive member for community neighbourhoods, said: ‘This event is a great opportunity for community groups and others who have ideas for local projects to understand how crowdfunding can help bring their ideas forward with the support of Teignbridge and its partners.’

He added: ‘Crowdfunding is not new, it is a popular way for residents who become motivated to participate in something that helps make a success of the project and a lasting difference to communities.’
