MORE than half a century of publishing history could be coming to an end in Newton Abbot with the prospect of an Aldi supermarket taking over the David and Charles site.

Trusted sources have confirmed that the German discount retailer is in talks to acquire the Brunel Road building where the publisher established its first proper base in 1964.
