FRIENDS of Teignmouth Orangery are looking forward to a bright summer after a winter of hard work. The Grade II listed building in the grounds of Bitton House was officially opened for the summer season on Tuesday. It has been a long winter for members, who have had to battle with damage caused by vandals and graffiti artists. But the place has been spruced up and, despite losing some plants to frost damage because of smashed windows, all looks rosy for the next few months. Chairman Malcolm Rae said: 'The Friends of the Orangery have worked extremely hard to tidy the building and we are looking forward with great confidence. 'Membership numbers are growing and I am sure that many people will enjoy this gem during the summer.'
