BUCKFASTLEIGH’S Orchard Millennium Green will be staging its flagship Tea on the Green afternoons this summer, kicking-off with special events on Easter Sunday.
Now into its fifth year, the popular tea parties start at 2pm on Easter Sunday and Monday, and then continue through spring and summer on Sundays and bank holidays up until early autumn, weather permitting.
Trustee Maureen Tuffnell said: ‘We’re delighted to be re-launching Tea on the Green for 2017.
‘Spring is finally here and we’d like to invite all residents and visitors to Buckfastleigh to come and spend some time with us this Easter weekend for a refreshing cuppa and some delicious homemade cake.’
Organisers have promised some additional attractions will also feature during the opening weekend.
‘Following the successful Party in the Park to celebrate the Queen’s 90th birthday last year,’ Mrs Tuffnell added, ‘we were very grateful to MoorFun events for providing some attractions to cater for our younger patrons and we’re delighted to have invited them back for the opening weekend.
‘We’d also like to extend our thanks to Trefor Jones, who has offered to provide the sound systems for the day and will also be providing some background music.’
The Orchard Millennium Green will also be hosting its famous Buckfastleigh Annual Fun Day, this year on June 25.
Andrew Rudgley, chairman of the trustees, said: ‘Our trustees and volunteers were very pleased at the success of last year’s big afternoon in June and are looking forward to what we think will be another fantastic event in the summer.
‘We’ve already confirmed what we believe to be some diverse and distinctive attractions which we believe visitors will enjoy.’
