Talented Newton Abbot teenager Jasmine Kewell dazzled the judges with a song from the film Shrek to win the performing arts category in the new Talent South West competition last weekend.

Jasmine, 19, has her sights set on drama school, but thanks to her prize of being signed to global entertainment agency Scarlett Entertainment, the stage career she yearns for may well be just about to begin.

She sang her way through initial auditions and semi finals before captivating judges and audience at the Talent South West finals at Exeter Racecourse.

The singer will now go on to appear at a charity dinner on December 10 at Exeter's Sandy Park along with the winners in the two other categories.

Winners of the speciality act were comic duo Phist of Justice, alias Sam O'Hara-Childs and Ben Challen, both 23-year-old students from Plymouth.

Kelsey Conroy, 16, from Teignmouth was proclaimed winner of the singing category with a version of Florence and the Machine's Drumming Song.

Rebecca Marks, of Scarlett Agency, Newton Abbot, said she was astounded at the high standard of the acts and was looking forward to working with the three winners.
