Celebrations are in order for Ashmoor Netball Academy's Jess Knott. Earlier this year, the 16-year-old from Buckfastleigh – who has represented the Ashburton-based club since first playing high five netball as a nine-year-old – was selected to attend the England U17 netball trials at the UK Sport HQ at Sheffield. l Turn to page 2 l From page 1 After a series of training weekends, Jess was successful in gaining selection for the prestigious England U17 Talent squad. Jess is the fourth Ashmoor girl to attend final England trials in recent years, but the first to be selected. As goal shooter/goal attack, she made her Ashmoor senior debut in the Plymouth and District Indoor Netball League Premier A Division last season, and will be looking to build upon her achievement in senior netball and maintain her status in the England set up this coming season. She has outstanding GCSE results and will now combine her A-level studies at South Dartmoor Community Sports College with her netball training. The club currently runs three ladies teams, training on Thursday evenings indoor at the Ashmoor Recreation Centre. For more information, contact coach Karen Dinnie on 01626 824847.
