ASHBURTON man, and former police constable, John Fisher has become an ambassador for the charity Send A Cow.

The charity was founded by Christian farmers in 1988. They sent cows from their UK herds that were above EU quota levels to Uganda, which was emerging from a long civil war during which many of their farms had been wiped out. It now helps people across Sub-Saharan Africa.

John said: ‘Send a Cow doesn’t put cows on planes anymore, but it’s already lifted more than 1.3m people out of poverty and it has big plans to give millions more the hope and the means to secure their own futures from the land.
