CAMPAIGNERS battling to save Teignmouth Hospital are asking supporters to help the fight.

They are appealing to the public who want to stop the proposed closure to email their views to Devon County Council ahead of its meeting on March 16.

It is suggesting supporters email the Devon County Council health scrutiny committee to make them aware that the proposed closure of the Mill Lane hospital is ‘totally unacceptable’ given all the facts.

Supporters are being asked to email the committee secretary [email protected].

The statement says: ‘The IRP’s decision was based on the consultation process and not on the Spotlight Review findings which required a decision to be in the best medical interests of the community.

‘If Teignmouth Hospital is closed, the impact will seriously compound the problems of the NHS in this area.

‘I urge DCC Health Scrutiny Committee to request a further referral to the Secretary of State for Health.’

Local campaigner Viv Wilson said she hoped as many people as possible would take part,.
