NEARLY £3,000 was raised for the Brain Tumour Charity at this year’s JollyStock music festival, with organisers declaring it to be the most successful yet.
The three-day event, held at Newton Abbot’s Jolly Farmer, saw thousands of people flock to the watering hole to watch nearly 30 different bands including the Simmertones.
There was something for everyone, with the bands covering a wide range of music from punk to ska, to reggae and rock.
The music spectacle was in memory of Beth Kelly, a 27-year-old Newton Abbot woman who went to sleep one day last November and never woke up.
At midnight on the Saturday the whole of the pub was singing along to the famous Beatles hit All You Need Is Love in tribute to her.
Other acts who graced the outdoor stage across the weekend included Mighty Sasquatch, Diamonddogz, Shady Slim, Cydney Brown and the Reggaskas.
Festival organiser Glenn Powell was thrilled with the weekend’s antics, saying: ‘JollyStock 2016 was without a doubt the best yet, we are delighted that everyone gave so generously to such a wonderful charity, we managed to raise £2,870 for a magnificent cause.’
Other organisers hope that the success of this year’s event will lead to bigger and better things in the future.
One organiser said: ‘We all had a feeling that this year was going to be special, but it exceeded all of our expectations.
‘Planning is underway for next year, and we are hoping to bring some big names to the JollyStock stage.’
