And the town council is looking into the possibility of joining in a national fire beacon event on the Queen’s April birthday, too.
Cllr Jennifer Giles told town councillors at this week’s full council meeting about the plans made by the Queen’s birthday celebrations committee.
The committee is a group of residents, including some councillors.
She said: ‘We’ve got a jam-packed weekend planned for June 10 to 12.
‘On the Saturday there’ll be a Royal Rumpus; street fair in St Lawrence Lane; ram roast; a tug-of-war competition and fireworks in the evening.
‘Sunday will include a special church service and a cream tea kindly being organised by the Women’s Institute.’
Cllr Giles added there were lots of events in the town leading up to the big birthday weekend, to raise money for the firework display.
