TEIGNMOUTH is planning a sporting extravaganza to celebrate the arrival of the Olympic torch.
The flame is being carried around the country and is due in the town on May 20.
A big build-up is being organised for the preceding two days, May 18 and 19, involving a host of sports clubs and other organisations.
And the Olympic knees-up will be followed a few days later by a mega public party for the Queen's Diamond jubilee on June 5.
Tim Collins, strategic manager for the Teignmouth Children's Centre, is masterminding the Olympic celebrations, and the town council is busy organising the events for the jubilee.
Mr Collins told a town council meeting he expected the arrival of the torch in Teignmouth would 'spark a flood of enthusiasm for sport in the town', and he predicted 'it could be massive'.
