A KNIFEMAN ran off empty handed after threatening two restaurant workers in a dawn raid on a Kingsteignton restaurant.

Both members of staff at the Beefeater Grill next to the town's racecourse escaped unharmed after their ordeal early on Monday.

Armed police rushed to the venue in Newton Road when the alarm was raised just before 6am.
