Teignmouth Rotary Club held its annual Youth Speaks competition for schools last week at the Carlton Theatre.
This time all the eight teams entered were from Trinity School, Teignmouth, since the town's community college for once was unable to provide its normal stiff competition due to other commitments.
the winning team in the intermediate section was Ceara Ovens, Layla Crabtree and Amy Heaton, speaking on Like A Box Of chocolates. Winners of the senior section were Megan Clarke, Nadia Cracknell and Tom Rayfield, with the subject Because It's There.
The teams are coached by Maggie Hooper.
the club wants to thank the theatre and anyone who helped make the event a success and hopes that the college can join in again next year.
It is also hoped Dawlish community college might join.
'We wish this year's winners every success in the future rounds of this national competition,' said Rotary Club vice-president graham Smith.
