Police and sniffer dogs were on a pub crawl with a difference last Thursday night as they continued to drive home the message that drugs won't be tolerated in the area's bars and hostelries.The Pubs Against Drugs initiative was launched five months ago by the Teignbridge Partners and Community Together (Pact) team and encourages publicans to challenge the use of narcotics by customers.Support comes from officers who visit unannounced with sniffer dogs trained to search out anyone carrying illegal drugs.Last week the Pact team, together with members of the Chudleigh neighbourhood beat team, carried out operation Gleeson, a two-and-a-half hour exercise in which six officers and the sniffer dog visited pubs in Chudleigh, Chudleigh Knighton and Bovey Tracey.
