The shadow foreign secretary, David Milliband MP, was in Newton Abbot last Thursday as his campaign to become leader of the Labour Party rolled into the south west.

The member for South Shields is one of five candidates in the race and is widely tipped as the front runner.

Mr Milliband, celebrating his 45th birthday, visited Coombeshead College where he was greeted by principal Matthew Shanks and 90 party supporters.
