WORK to divert Bradley Lane leat is due to get underway this week.
Teignbridge District Council (TDC) is progressing works at Vicary’s Field Community Gardens to construct a new overflow culvert and upgrade the site’s flood infrastructure.
As part of this, capacity from the leat is being diverted into the River Lemon upstream.
This will enhance flood resilience and help reduce the risk of downstream flooding, the council says.
The scheme forms part of the enabling package for future development of Bradley Lane, with the leat remaining until development is progressed.
The work is due to start from Monday, September 15.
The project is expected to take up to seven weeks to complete.
‘We have been in touch with local residents to let them know about the works’, said a spokesperson for TDC.
‘We appreciate that there may be some disruption at times due to the works but we, along with our contractors, will do our best to keep this to a minimum’, the spokesperson added.
