A GROUP of travellers have pitched up their caravans on Ideford Common and legal action is being taken.

The unwelcome guests set up shop on the common last week before a member of the public reported it to Teignbridge Council.

A spokesman for the district authority said: ‘We have started the lawful process to move on travellers who set up on Ideford Common.

‘We have informed them on Thursday, April 13, that they cannot remain there and proceedings were issued in the County Court on the same day.

‘A hearing is due to be held on Friday.’
