TEIGNMOUTH Regeneration has approached Teignbridge Council to operate the town's Lido as a social enterprise from next year's summer season. On Wednesday, Teignbridge Council's Executive agreed that discussions should continue with Teignmouth Regeneration and a report on the proposals should go before the executive in November. The initial ideas relate to operating the Lido as a social enterprise (community business) alongside a strong theme of training and development, with particular reference to marine leisure qualifications. Cllr Roy Phillips wrote to the executive pointing out that groups had been consulted but it had completely bypassed the town council, whose views were being completely ignored. The leader Cllr Alan Connett said the proposals had come from Teignmouth Regeneration. 'No decisions have been made or any formal decisions. I hope Teignmouth Town Council will see the potential of this opportunity and that Teignmouth will be happy with the proposals,' he said.
