ROYAL National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) lifeguards will be back on our local beaches this May half term.

Red and yellow flags will be flying on Teignmouth and Dawlish beaches from Friday, May 24 to Saturday, June 1, daily, from 10am to 6pm.

Teignmouth will continue with full RNLI lifeguard cover through the summer until September 7.

Lifeguards will be on hand to provide safety advice, encourage proactive decision-making and help everyone enjoy the beach responsibly.

RNLI safety reminders:

• Always swim between the red and yellow flags – it’s the safest place, watched by trained lifeguards

• If you see someone in trouble, dial 999 and ask for the Coastguard

• Heading out on the water? Carry a means of calling for help and wear a lifejacket where appropriate.
