A CANCER support charity is several thousand pounds better off thanks to the generosity of Newton Abbot’s department store.

Austins’ ‘Summer Solstice’ beauty evening and 'Nutcracker Noel' Christmas shopping evening raised a grand total of £3,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support.

A spokesperson for Austins said: ‘Thank you to everyone who came along, brought a friend and supported the raffle.

‘Whether you bought one ticket or a handful, it all helped reach that £3,000’.

The cheque was presented to Macmillan representatives on Tuesday, April 21.

The popular department store is no stranger to raising money for Macmillan, Austins having long supported the charity, which offers confidential support to people living with cancer and their loved ones.
