A MAN was injured when his car crashed into a tree in Newton Abbot early this morning (Monday).

The casualty, driving a Renault Clio registered to Torquay, escaped with minor injuries from the accident which happened at the Twickenham Road junction with St Marychurch Road.

He was taken by ambulance to Plymouth’s Derriford Hopsital for treatment to leg and facial injuries.

All three emergency services attended the incident which happened just after 6am. The road was re-opened just before 9am.
