A MAN was taken to hospital late on Wednesday night after falling off a wall in Newton Abbot.

Police and paramedics were called to the empty Queens Hotel, opposite the railway station, just after 10.30pm on Wednesday.

The casualty had been trying to clamber over the six-foot wall when he failed in his task and fell to earth.

He was rushed to Torbay Hospital by ambulance for treatment to head and chest injuries.

It’s understood the man, aged 45, had been drinking.

His injuries were not thought to be serious.
