A Starcross resident has been named as the person who died at the village’s railway station last month.

Police and paramedics attended but Donald Gilpin, an 87-year-old retired mechanic, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

The incident, which was reported at around 2.15pm on Wednesday September 17, resulted in the train service between Exeter St Davids and Newton Abbot being suspended for around two hours.

The cause of Mr Gilpin’s death has not yet been ascertained and the inquest has been adjourned to a future date.
