POLICE have released CCTV images of a man they want to speak to in connection with an assault on a man in Teignmouth.

The incident, in which the victim sustained a serious stomach injury, happened at the end of July but inquiries have now turned to identifying a long-haired man spotted on the footage.

Officers were alerted to a disturbance involving four men just after midnight on Saturday, July 31, in Regent Street during regatta week.

One man, a 33-year-old from Teignmouth sustained a ‘significant’ injury to his stomach.

Police have not revealed how he was injured but it was serious enough to require surgery. 

A 24-year-old man was later arrested and bailed until November 23 pending further inquiries.

Subsequent inquiries have led to the release of the CCTV images of the man police would like to identify to speak to.

He is described as wearing a black baseball cap, white T-shirt with distinctive skull design and carrying a rucksack.

He is a white man with long, brown hair in a bun with a full beard.
