Moreton's maybe not on the road to nowhere

RECENT roadworks proved a popular theme for Moretonhampstead’s carnival procession this year as several tongue-in-cheek tableaus cocked a proverbial snook at the motoring misery caused by the recent closure and diversions on the A382 into the moorland town.

Since the early 1920s, and always on the fourth Thursday in August, Moretonians have been celebrating their carnival and naturally this year was no exception.

Organisers were aiming to make the event as memorable as ever and they certainly pulled out all the stops yesterday evening (Thursday, August 27) with a grand procession which featured everything from Minions to dancing pirates, a host of nursery rhyme characters and spooky moorland folklore plus much, much, more.

Organisers have said a big thank you to everyone, from participants, volunteers and the public, who all came together to make the event a tremendous success.
