THE motorcyclist involved in a serious collision in Newton Abbot yesterday has died in the early hours of this morning.
The rider, a 53-year-old man from Torquay, was taken to hospital yesterday afternoon with life-threatening injuries after his motorbike and a car collided on the Shaldon Road outside Milber Service Station.
Formal identification has not yet been carried out although his next of kin have been informed.
The driver of the car, a 68-year-old man from Newton Abbot, has been arrested for failing to provide a breath test and on suspicion of driving without due care and attention.
He has been bailed until October 21 pending further enquiries.
The road was closed for six hours while officers from the Serious Collisions Investigation team carried out an examination of the scene.
