AN EVENING of music and comedy is planned for the Shaftesbury Theatre later this month.

The charity show A Night of Nostalgia was among the numerous planned events that were either cancelled or put on the back burner due to covid. The show has now been rescheduled for one night only at Dawlish’s historic theatre.

Raising funds for Teignmouth and Dawlish Talking Newspaper, the evening will take the form of an Old Tyme Music Hall. The show features some well known local performers including Steve Collings, Viv Wilson, John Townsend, Andy Killen, Gill Poore, Di Davies and Cask.

Chairman is Brian Rees and vocalists will be accompanied by Ian Davies and audience participation will be encouraged.

A spokesperson said: ‘Talking Newspapers was the idea of Maggie Campbell who is a contributor to the charity and a Dawlish resident.

‘Well known for appearances and direction of numerous theatrical productions from Dawlish to Paignton over the past half century, Maggie has gathered up a group of friends who are experienced entertainers.

'Two local singers form the duo CASK – Steve Collings and his daughter Kathyrn who travel across the south west to sing at shanty festivals. Viv Wilson, one-time Teignmouth Post columnist, will bring a touch of comedy to the show and provide a musical interlude with her guitar.’

A Night of Nostalgia takes place on Saturday, February 18 at 7.30pm, Tickets from £8-10 are on sale from the box office. Call 01626 863061 for more information or go online to shaftesbury-dawlish.co.uk
