GOLDEN girl of bowls Natalie Melmore said that winning the Teignbridge Sports Personality of the Year had topped 'a bit of a good year'.
'It's a massive honour. It's a big award to be a part of and even to be nominated for, as we've got a lot of good sports people in our district,' she said.
Since winning gold at the Commonwealth Games earlier this year, Natalie, 21, from Newton Abbot, has been showered with awards and honours. She was named Bowls England Woman Bowler of the Year and on Monday learns if she has won the Sports Award in Plymouth, where she attends university.
'I don't expect to win that, they've got Tom Daly,' she said.
On December 19, she will be among the audience at the BBC Sports Personality of the Year, shown live from the NEC in Birmingham .
'I can't wait, I am so excited,' she said.
