AN £800,000 extension to Teignmouth Hospital is now up and running.
The first physiotherapy, occupational therapy and spinal services patients began using the facility this week.
Largely funded by the league of friends, the extension will provide improved access to the hospital, and enable patients to receive care in a modern, bright and fully equipped environment, including a gym area specially designed for patient assessments.
'It looks absolutely fantastic and we are delighted that patients can now benefit from the improvements,' said Tracey Mackenzie, the matron.
'The extension is bright and airy, with a new comfortable waiting area for patients, and modernised clinical areas.'
Graham Russell, the league chairman, added: 'We had been looking to spend donated funds on a substantial project and this fits the bill. We are delighted.'
Work on the outside of the building is continuing and is expected to be completed soon. The clinics are open from 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday.
