A £10 million scheme to move the B3193 between Rixey Park and Abbrook, Kingsteignton, has come a step closer after landowner Sibelco shifted up a gear by submitting a fresh planning application.

The new 1.6-mile route, which would incorporate parts of John Acres Lane and emerge near Furze Cap and Sandygate, could be operational by 2015.

Although the overall height of the spoil heaps would not increase, gaps between the manmade hills would be filled in, adding to their sense of bulk.
