TEIGNMOUTH'S new Waitrose store opened its doors yesterday and could provide a big boost to hard pressed local traders.Waitrose manager Chris Reynard said: 'I have talked to many local shopkeepers, and they are over the moon with our arrival. 'We believe in "in town" stores, and will be delighted if our arrival helps the local economy.'Waitrose took over the former Co-op supermarket in Lower Brook Street, and created 70 new jobs.Fifty of the old staff have been retained and retrained in the Waitrose style, which places great emphasis on 'customer service'.
