A Buckfastleigh newsagent owner described the town's roads as a 'dangerous ice rink' following the recent big freeze and is angered that some of the highways weren't gritted.
Peter Collings of Huccaby's News, Fore Street, who is also the Buckfastleigh chamber of trade chairman, said he praised the county council grit lorries for clearing the main roads during the recent snowfall, but was appalled that the minor roads weren't given any attention.
'Come the Wednesday before Christmas, we were left with what can only be described as a dangerous skating rink. The support that our town was given was an absolute disgrace,' said Mr Collings.
'We have a health centre and fire service in Bossell Road and a small business community in Fore Street, who rely on clear roads to continue their services to the community.
