Britain’s Got Talent? Well, so has Newton Abbot, writes Michael D Joyce.

I, along with 50 other family and friends were treated to an evening of music at Newton Abbot College.

The night commenced with Year 7 and 8 students performing on Taiko drums.

This was followed by the KS3 band performing Counting Stars, and the KS4 band performing Photograph and Dani California.

Year 12 performing arts students sang Rolling in the Deep, and the duet of Allanna and Anna, both Year 11 music students performed Wonderwall.

Accompanying himself on the piano, Owen Milton (Year 8) performed Love Yourself, while Luci and Lottie performed a duet of Ain’t Nobody.

No Boundaries, a band of Year 8 to Year 11 students performed Basket Case and Boys of Summer to bring the first half to its conclusion.

The second half commenced with bands from Year 9 performing Hey Ho and Adventure of a Lifetime, and Year 10 entertaining with Crazy Little Thing Called Love.

It was not all well-known songs that were performed – Broken, and Life’s Better With You were songs written and performed by talented Year 11 artists Anna Gibbs and Lois Harris.

Izzy Warren (Year 8) sang the heart-touching song Wings while playing the ukulele, and Georgie Dell delighted the audience with her exam piece When We Were Young.

Miss Missing You and Dancing On My Own was performed by the group made up of students ranging from Year 7 to Year 12 and to round off the evening’s entertainment was the newly formed college band performing Bad Name, Take Me To Church and Shut Up and Dance.

A wonderful evening in which the audience was thoroughly spoiled.
