A 22-year-old man from Newton Abbot has been warned that he faces a long jail sentence after he admitted carrying out a serious assault in the town.
Sam Trendell, of Windsor Avenue, Newton Abbot, pleaded guilty to a single count of inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent when he appeared at Exeter Crown Court.
He assaulted Nathan Meek at a car park on August 9, 2017.
Judge David Evans adjourned his case and ordered a the probation service to prepare a report on whether Trendell is a danger to the public.
He told him:"The offence to which you have pleaded guilty is very serious and in due course you will receive a significant sentence of immediate imprisonment."
