A 34-YEAR-OLD Newton Abbot pedestrian was killed when he was struck by a car on the A380 near Kingskerswell last month.

An inquest has been opened in Exeter into the death of William Holmes.

Senior Devon coroner Philip Spinney said Mr Holmes was single and unemployed and died at 05.10am on August 13 when he was a pedestrian who was hit by a vehicle on the south bound A380.

Mr Holmes, who lived in Newton Abbot, died at the scene from cranial trauma.

Mr Spinney said an investigation is underway and a full inquest will be held at a later date.
