NINE-year-old Megan Frost decided to get on her bike when she heard the place she loved to visit – Paignton Zoo – needed help with funding during lockdown.

The Newton Abbot girl rode and her sister Sereny, aged three, decided to run and between the two of them they have managed to raise £330 for the zoo thanks to sponsorship from family and friends.

Their mum, Kerri, said: ‘Megan had seen articles about Paignton Zoo struggling during the lockdown and she decided she wanted to raise some money to help support the place she loved to visit.

‘On VE Day Megan and her sister Sereny undertook their challenges. Megan had aimed to cycle half a marathon around a two mile loop of our house but actually doubled her distance and cycled 13 loops to complete a marathon distance.

‘Sereny wanted to run the two mile loop. She managed to run the whole two miles and then undertook two more laps completing six miles in total.

‘They were both supported by their dad, Matt, who ran 20 miles alongside them. They had amazing support from friends, family and neighbours and managed to raise £330 for the zoo.

‘We would like to thank everyone for their kind donations of support during this uncertain time not only to support Megs and Sereny but to support our local zoo.’
