A TEAM of eight fundraisers from Teignbridge and the rest of south Devon are on a mission to Africa next month.

The group are hoping to collect as much as £5,000 to help build a community centre in Uganda for impoverished women and children.

Among those making the life-changing journey to Arua on March 27 will be Newton Abbot-based businesswoman Hayley Kennedy.

For the venture Hayley has linked up with the Paignton-based charity Women of Worth run by Rachel and Andy David.

Part of her cash-boost plans for the ambitious project is organising a leadership conference at Torquay’s Grand Hotel throughout the day on March 4.

Profits from the Bay Leadership Conference – aimed at injecting new life into local businesses – will be ploughed into the African enterprise.

‘I’m hoping local people will come to the event and have a great day,’ said Hayley who will be offering professional expertise in the field of business training and motivation.

She runs Exceptional Teams from her base in Newton Abbot with a view to putting local business groups and individuals on the path to success.
