SOME of pop’s best loved stars from the 1980s will perform their greatest hits and more next year at Newton Abbot Racecourse.
It follows the huge success this summer of a Boyzone concert at the venue and will take place on Sunday, August 14.
Among those taking part in 80’s Gold will be Tony Hadley (Spandau Ballet), ABC, Bananarama and Midge Ure (Ultravox).
Racecourse managing director Patrick Masterson said: ‘The Boyzone concert was such a success and we received so much great feedback about music at the racecourse that we had to repeat the experience all over again next year.
‘We are delighted to welcome not one but four amazing names for an evening reliving the best of the 1980s. It is going to be a great opportunity to get together with friends and family and get caught up in the magic of this fun and fabulous decade, here in the heart of Devon.’
Show producer Liz Doogan-Hobbs, of LHG Live, said Newton Abbot was a great venue for staging concerts. ‘We had an amazing time here with Boyzone earlier this summer. Next year we will be bringing a night full of 80s classic artists including Tony Hadley who is still so strong 30 years on, with a new album out now!’ she said.
Hadley is currently in the Australian jungle, battling it out to win this year’s I’m A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here. This month has seen the release of his new Christmas album.
ABC has just toured the Lexicon Of Love album which was played in its entirety by the Southbank Sinfonia Orchestra.
Bananarama is touring Australia in February, while Midge Ure has also just released his new album Breathe Again and completed a UK indoor tour.
