A Newton Abbot man is preparing for one of the toughest canoe and kayak races in the world.
Nigel Strickland, 33 (pictured right), is taking part in the Yukon River Quest, an annual event held in north west Canada, taking place from June 29 to July 3.
He will be joining 15 of his colleagues at Plumb and Parts Centre for the world’s longest canoe and kayak events.
It is a 444-mile non-stop, five-day race which tests even the most seasoned athletes.
The team is aiming to raise £100,000 for Cancer Research UK and complete the race in just 50 hours.
Nigel said: ‘It’s going to be a tough challenge but definitely an experience of a lifetime.
‘It’s heartening to see so many people come together from across the organisation to support us.
‘It’s a challenge that will push the teams to physical and mental limits and beyond but it’s all for a worthy cause.’
