Teignbridge Nine Days of Art 2006 will run from Saturday Sept 9th - Sunday Sept 17th 2006. Last year's Devon wide Nine Days of Art event attracted over 33,000 visitors. The reason Nine Days of Art has been such a successful event is that it gives visitors a unique chance to meet with artists in their studios and workplaces and to see their daily working environment, an environment often hidden from the public eye. Most artists work from home and show their work to the world through galleries and exhibitions. Nine Days of Art is an opportunity for you to take time to have a cuppa and a chat with artists about their work and purchase your favourites directly at source. The artists in the Teignbridge area include quality crafts workers producing a huge variety of work – painting, sculpture, ceramics, textiles, wood, metalwork, stone work, mosaics, glass, jewellery, willow work, photography and more. Cllr David Cox, Teignbridge spokesman for community services said: 'Devon Nine days of Art was a massive success with nearly 20,000 extra visitors attracted to Teignbridge alone, many of whom signed attendance books providing valuable feedback. The projects exhibited the work of more than 80 artists, and the response from the public was that they were impressed and wanted to see more. We are committed to supporting the arts within the district, and look forward to Teignbridge Nine Days of Art 2006 and similar events providing a fantastic opportunity for us to showcase the extraordinary level of talent that exists locally.' It is the personal approach that gives this event such a unique quality along with the added enjoyment of following the art trails through some of the beautiful Devon countryside.
