A PETROL station in Teignmouth could be open round the clock after Teignbridge Council confirm there are no planning conditions restricting its opening hours.

Motor Fuel Group Ltd had applied to the local authority for a Certificate of Lawfulness to amend the opening hours at the Morrisons Petrol Station on Newfoundland Road.

Having examined the relevant planning history at the site, the company said that there have been no planning applications granted with conditions that restrict opening hours of the petrol station.

Motor Fuel Group, therefore, believed that 24-hour operations would be lawful.

As such, the company sought to obtain a Certificate of Lawfulness, a formal decision issued by a planning authority confirming that a proposed development would be lawful without the need for planning permission.

And Teignbridge Council have confirmed that planning permission is not needed.

‘There are no planning conditions which restrict the opening hours of the petrol station’, the council said.
