TWO Dawlish Hospital nurses are looking forward to their next challenge having completed the London Marathon. They are Lisa Difonso and Cindy Morris, who were raising cash for Dawlish-based children's charity, The Special People Fund. They ran the gruelling 26.2 miles after months of hard training, cheered on at the event by work colleagues, friends and family. Both were dressed as fairies. 'The crowds were absolutely fantastic,' said Mrs Difonso. 'And I couldn't believe how many people there were. We were trying to find our friends and thought we had no chance. Luckily, we saw everyone.' Mrs Morris added: 'It was nice being in the fancy dress as well. I think we had a good response from the crowds who were cheering us on. They make you feel like a celebrity, it was unbelievable.' Both ladies say they had no problems in completing the marathon, even sprinting over the finish line. Mrs Difonso said: 'We ran the same pace all the way round and didn't have one negative thought in our heads.' Mrs Morris added: 'Seeing the London Marathon on television is no comparison to actually being there and taking park. I was running the whole way on pure adrenalin – if you could bottle the feeling and sell it, you'd be a millionaire.' She added that from start to finish, unlike many other racers, both of them had grins from ear to ear. Merv Nosworthy, of the Special People Fund, said: 'We are very grateful to Cindy and Lisa for taking part in the marathon and raising money for us.' Sponsoring running equipment for the two ladies was International Dance Supplies, of Newton Abbot. The nurses have now set their sights on the Barcelona Marathon.
