AN ELDERLY woman was rescued after getting stuck in a public lavatory in Newton Abbot town centre.

Firefighters came to the rescue of the pensioner who came a cropper at the Market Walk toilets this morning.

Small tools were used to relieve the woman from her incarceration after the alarm was raised at 10.40am.
